In its continued commitment to training highly competent healthcare workers, North Coast Medical Training College (NCMTC) utilizes modern and innovative methods embarked on a specialized training program aimed at empowering Community Health Promoters (CHPs).
The training, which began this day, October 21st, focuses on equipping participants with the practical knowledge and skills needed to strengthen community health services across Kenyan communities with an aim to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Through the implementation of Training of Trainers (TOTs), NCMTC successfully trained eight Community Health Assistants, each of whom has been assigned the responsibility of further training Community Health Promoters (CHPs) within their respective areas.
This structured approach makes sure that the training’s impact reaches deeply into communities, ultimately enhancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC). The program emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention, and treatment of common ailments to build a healthier society.
Speaking during the opening session, one of the Training coordinators highlighted the importance of capacity building at the grassroots level.
“By empowering Community Health Assistants, we are creating a strong link between the health system and the people it serves. These assistants will play a key role in guiding and mentoring Community Health Promoters to ensure quality and consistent service delivery,” the trainer said.
The training is scheduled to run until 24th of October. As the training concludes, NCMTC remains steadfast in its mission to produce healthcare professionals who are not only knowledgeable but also compassionate, innovative, and ready to serve their communities with excellence.
Together, we build healthier communities — one training at a time.
