WHAT A COBES-STATIC IDEA!!!
It’s been a year since we resumed our COBES health promotion and disease prevention activities and the achievement we’ve amassed so far are perplexing. The lethargy amongst trainers, the sluggishness amongst learners and the over expectations from community members, hoping to be treated in Health Information Points(HIPs), instead of being empowered to take control of their health has abated. Hence, the Moi University visit led by Professor Joyce Baliddawa and Dr Gladys Akama to North Coast Mtc couldn’t have come at an opportune moment!
This invaluable gesture from a renowned COBES guru in Kenya and Africa helped uplift our COBES spirit. We can now boldly progress to positively change the socio-cultural factors that may impede the enjoyment of accessible, and, equitable primary health care by 2030 as envisioned in the global concept of Universal Health Care.
After four days of engagement and discussion, three domain areas were identified as possible areas of collaboration; Research, Training and Outreach Services. It was mutually agreed that each team would come up with a proposal on how they intend to implement the three domains of collaboration and the possible outcomes that will lead to a formation of a consortium establishment of a research consultancy/unit; or drawing an action plan to be implemented as time goes by.
The last day culminated in music frenzy with a cocktail party filled with dance and a photo session. Overall we are proud of our students who did an ably and passionate job in exhibiting the missing link in empowering the community and the entire COBES team for working tirelessly before and during the visit.
The FUTURE is COBES!
