North Coast Medical Training College (NCMTC) is a private-not-for profit medical training college located in Kilifi-South. Since 2012, NCMTC is training a wide array of healthcare workers at diploma, certificate and post-basic diploma level. It is known for pioneering competency based and student-centred training approaches in Kenya using modern training facilities and technologies. The college aims to make reaching the HIPs easier, more environmentally friendly, cheaper. Specifically, it strives to ensure that the use of buses is reduced while still enabling staff and students to reach the HIPs. This will also help to ensure that students and staff are stimulated to be more physically active and fuel emissions are reduced.
The maintenance service assistant will be tasked with issuing and receiving of the bicycles while keeping proper maintenance service schedule records of the bicycles on a daily basis in line with support to the college operations in terms of student and staff movement within the learning environment.
Tasks and responsibility
- Issuing and receiving the bicycles to respective students and staff proceeding to HIP’s (Health Information Points)
- Repair and maintenance of the bicycles be it fixing of punctures, brakes, greasing, gear operations and ensuring adequate tyre pressure on the bicycles.
- Cleaning of the bicycles and the bicycle shade regularly.
- Labelling and maintaining service schedule records of the bicycles.
- Training of users on proper handling of the bicycles as a precaution for avoidance of damage to the bicycles.
- Ensuring the bicycles are adequately secured at the bicycle shade and while in the field the bicycle locks are functioning when issued out.
- Confirming through a checklist that bicycle is in good operation condition.
Required competencies, education, and experience.
- Formal learning. Technical artisan or prior knowledge skill can be added advantage.
- Minimum of one year of experience in handling and repairing bicycles and motorcycles.
- Competent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good team player.
- Fluent oral English or Kiswahili and good written English language skills.
