Kilifi County marked a major milestone on July 19th 2022, by opening its doors to the new Kilifi County Medical Complex. Governor Amason Kingi commissioned the new state-of-the-art multi-million-shilling ultra-modern medical complex facility which is designed to promote health for the local community and offers a full complement of health care services designed to provide seamless, coordinated care to patients and families. The center offers an intensive care unit, a high dependency unit, modern theatres, emergency and casualty departments, X-ray units, specialist consultancy and other amenities that are open seven days a week.
Health Executive Charles Dadu said that the new hospital also has a private wing with semi-private suits and four private wards and a deluxe suit for VIP’s. Mr Dadu said the county would equip the facility with cancer and imagery wings (CT scan and MRI) in September. “We are expecting 40 more specialists by September so that by the end of the year we will have 78 of them,” he said.
Governor Amason Kingi who opened the facility on Tuesday said that his administration is committed to providing affordable and accessible healthcare and the facility will go a long way in enhancing primary healthcare where locals will enjoy affordable healthcare right at their doorsteps. The complex has an accident section that was non-existent within the kilifi county instead there was a small room that could not offer any meaningful services to accident victims, the governor noted. “We have set the standards, whoever is going to take over from me must ensure that health services are even better than the foundation I’ve laid. We have to take Kilifi higher,” he concluded.
This comes as an added advantage for us, considering that we’ve partnered with the County in many projects hence, it will allow our students to have a diversity in clinical attachments opportunities. As an Institution, we continue to grow with every intake and having a facility with sufficient amenities to work and learn in the process is a fundamental asset. This is a useful experience which will contribute towards showing that our students meet the standards expected of doctors.
As NCMTC we value partnerships and as such we are very proud of kilifi county government for this climacteric achievement.
