The Certificate in Perioperative Theatre Technology is a specialized healthcare program designed to train you as a perioperative technician (Level 5 qualification). This program equips you with essential skills and knowledge to support surgeons and healthcare teams in the operating room.

You will also gain a solid understanding of health and disease, including topics such as anatomy, physiology, and common illnesses. This foundational knowledge will enable you to provide basic healthcare services, including first aid, hospital procedures, and health education.

Most importantly, this course focuses on ensuring the safety and well-being of patients and healthcare professionals in the operating theatre. You will become proficient in preventing hospital-acquired infections (nosocomial infections) and learn how to maintain sterile environments, operate theatre equipment, and provide critical technical support during surgeries.

Duration of the course:

• 2 years to graduate including at least a total of 12 weeks attachment in a recognized hospital with an operating theatre.

• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D (plain)

• Equivalent qualifications as determined by Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA)
