The North Coast Medical Training College (NCMTC) recently hosted principals from several private schools across the Coast region visit’s aimed at strengthening partnerships.The a Engagement was coordinated by the Head of Public Relations and Marketing, Madam Everlyne Alvidza, along with the NCMTC team, who guided the visiting principals through the institution’s facilities and learning environment.
The visit began with a tour of the college compound, where the guests were introduced to various training facilities that support student development both academically and physically. At the college gym, Head of Gym Mr. Timothy Nzaka demonstrated the activities conducted at the facility and explained the importance of physical fitness in supporting students’ overall well-being and academic performance.
The principals expressed great interest in the initiative, noting that incorporating fitness programs in institutions can help students remain active, focused, and more productive in class. Several of them indicated that they would consider adopting a similar model in their respective schools.
The tour continued with a presentation from the Medical Engineering Department, where the team showcased their technical skills and explained the crucial role medical engineers play in maintaining hospital equipment and ensuring the smooth operation of healthcare facilities.
The principals were also taken to the NCMTC Skills Laboratory, led by Head of Skills Lab Henry Akunda and his team. The laboratory houses advanced mannequins and training equipment that allow students to practice medical procedures in a controlled environment before performing them on real patients.
Through these simulations, students are able to repeatedly practice and perfect their skills, gaining confidence and competence before entering clinical practice. The facility includes specialized training areas such as the Maternity Skills Lab, ICU Skills Lab, Emergency Skills Lab, and OTM Skills Lab, all designed to ensure students receive comprehensive practical training.
The visit concluded with a presentation by the Director of Academics, Dr. Reuben Waswa, who explained NCMTC’s competency-based training model. He highlighted the institution’s integrated approach to education, which combines theoretical learning, practical training, skills laboratory sessions, Health Information Points (HIPs), and clinical attachments.
Dr. Waswa also emphasized the college’s focus on entrepreneurship education, which equips students with the knowledge and skills to create employment opportunities for themselves rather than solely depending on formal employment.
The presentation left the visiting principals highly impressed with the institution’s approach to medical training. Many praised NCMTC for its commitment to quality education and practical learning.
Several principals encouraged parents to consider enrolling their children at the institution, noting that NCMTC stands out as one of the leading private medical training colleges providing quality and hands-on healthcare education.
