North Coast Medical Training College (NCMTC) is a private-not-for profit medical training college located
in Kilifi-South. Since 2012, NCMTC is training a wide array of healthcare workers at certificate, diploma,
and post-basic diploma level. It is known for pioneering competency based and student-centred training
approaches in Kenya using modern training facilities and technologies. In its quest to strengthen the
training team in respective departments and help facilitate learning of health workers, NCMTC is
recruiting a Clinical instructor to join the respective Team in organizing, facilitating, and evaluating student
learning activities and whose core tasks and responsibilities are outlined below.

Tasks and responsibility
• Support and mentor students at the clinical/ attachment area.
• Ensure student participate in ward rounds, fill in logbooks and portfolio.
• Coaching students when making analysis and reflecting on their personal and professional
development, and how to include them in the portfolio.
• Referring the student to study trainers/study advisors, if necessary.
• Assessment of portfolios
• Coach and mentor students regarding Generic skills, Professional behaviour, Workplace
etiquettes.
• To work as hospital staff for 2 days and support student as clinical mentor for 3 days in a week.
• Act as the link between the clinical area and the college by transmitting important information
from/to each side.
• While at the college report to the clinical team leader and to the training manager when
necessary and while at the facility, to the matrons in various departments.

Required competencies
• Competent professional with up-to-date knowledge and good technical and generic skills
• Good team player
• Interested in the development and support of young adults.
• Good oral English and Kiswahili and excellent written English language skills
• Excellent computer skills with good mastery of MS office applications.

Required education and experience
• Diploma in either; Clinical medicine, Nursing
• 6 months – one years’ experience in providing health care services.
• Registered with professional bodies.
• Hold a valid practicing licence
