The Long Wait Is Over!! Guess Who’s Back? 
Kenya is to implement a phased reopening of universities from October under strict guidelines, ending a Seven-month closure occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic. The universities have been asked to consider a staggered resumption of studies to be able to conform with physical and social distancing requirements, especially in halls of residence, lecture rooms and dining halls. Social or physical distancing is the most critical factor in ensuring the safety and health of learners for reopening of learning institutions. Handwashing with soap and-or use of sanitizers, wearing of face masks and monitoring body temperature will be the minimum requirements for the health and safety of learners.
The CS for Education Mr. Magoha said final year students in all the universities and their constituent’s colleges will report on Monday 5th October, with priority being accorded to students who are undertaking practical courses and Final years. He said the safe resumption of in-person learning in all Universities and Tertiary Institutions requires utmost fidelity to MoH’s protocols and guidelines.
As NCMTC we welcome the re-opening of the schools and it’s a great gesture to the Government’s commitment to ensuring that there is continuity, even amidst a crisis.
We have prepared for the opening, by ensuring that we set up what is required in the proposed SOPs, by the MOH and endeavor to follow these SOPs to the latter. We will still continue with our on-line learning that has been quite successful and helpful in finishing out the academic year for most of the classes.
